CHRIS MILLARD

I am a seasoned winemaker, executive leader and entrepreneur with over thirty years of experience in the wine industry. I offer my clients a rare blend of technical expertise and practical business sense, honed through decades of hard work with dozens of brands around the world.

I grew up an “Army brat” traveling across the US and South America. My family finally settled in Monterey, California, and I spent much of my youth in Monterey on two wheels, racing bikes and repairing them in a local shop. Wine first entered my consciousness the summer I worked in southern France as a bicycle mechanic. Amidst the rolling vineyards and rustic chateaux, I discovered a passion that would redirect the course of my life.

I spent my first few decades in wine learning essential skills at prestigious properties like Bernardus, Sterling Vineyards, and Newton Vineyards. Later, working for one of the largest global wine companies as the head of winemaking and viticulture enabled me to oversee iconic brands from around the world, including Robert Mondavi Winery, The Prisoner, Ruffino, Kim Crawford and many others. My Portfolio page details many of the challenges and solutions I’ve embraced along the way.

In 2023, my family and I founded Lost Sierra Wine Co., a boutique, family-operated label handcrafting approachable wines with passion. When I’m not wearing my entrepreneur or consulting hats, you’ll likely find me mountain-biking, savoring moments with my family, or relaxing in the Northern Sierra Nevada mountains.
